Amanda B. Banegas
I am here to claim and proclaim who I am, what I am, & what I can do. Step aside.
Amanda B. Banegas, is a Black Queer Womx born and bred in the boogie down Bronx. Her identity is an amazing compilation of woman and warrior. She is a staunch trafficking crusader, an equal rights activist, and daughter of Yemaya. Her work revolves around uplifting and empowering Black & Indigenious womxn and femmes in spaces where feminism is born outside of respectability. This feminism is Black, is incarcerated, walks the stroll, is a single mother facing eviction, is hustla, and is centered around survival and the importance of basic needs.
Amanda is committed to changing the way academia views and relates to young Black girls historically and in modern times. She holds a BA in Psychology and African, African Diaspora Studies from Wheaton College and is currently engaged in a doctorate of History at Howard University with a concentration in African Diaspora Studies. This doctorate is a proclamation that “ghetto” women belong in the Ivory Tower. She is kept centered and empowered through the support and love of the Orishas and her divine powerful ancestors.
